“The fight against Global Warming is not about saving the earth, it’s about saving human kind.”

As for the author: She calls herself HurricaneCandice. She’s a graduate student at SUNY New Paltz. She plans to start co-ops and farmers markets all over the country, because she believes that food and water are basic necessities for good community and despite popular belief, America does not have access to good food or water. If you want to ask her a question, you may message her at HurricaneCandice on AIM.

“I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.” Loyd Dobler-Say Anything

  2. I would like advice from the younger generation on my new tree planting service. When Al Gore called for us to “plant new trees” I realized there are many people who just do not have easy access to property they can plant trees on, so I’m trying to remedy that. I feel that not enough will be done in time to prevent huge problems and that these problems will eventually lead to massive wars or other population reduction means which I dare not think of. Because of this, I’m also planting food bearing trees in public areas. I’m still learning and evolving and would like advice on how to improve my work. The web-site is oxygenpoopers.com and I thank you in advance.

  4. Let me start off just by saying that your blog is great. You really provide a lot of great insights into the green scene!

I’m the Green Community Lead for a network of niche product research/review sites called Huddler.com. Our first “Huddle” focuses on green products, and covers everything ranging from electric cars to green cleaning products. You can see our beta site at: http://greenhome.huddler.com.

We have incorporated product pages, reviews, forums, wikis, and much more to get the word out about green products and provide a place for eco-minded consumers to have meaningful discussions about their green products (both before and after they buy them). We’re of course not at all trying to replace great blogs like yours. We are simply trying to help get the word about about a variety of green product solutions.

We had our first blogger review written about us last week by Hank Green over at EcoGeek. We’re just getting started so things are a little sparse and we could really use all the help we can get.

Of course I welcome you to participate on the site but I also wanted to let you know of a contest that we’re running until Earth Day. Perhaps some of your readers might be interested in participating. To be quite honest, because we’re such young site, it won’t really take all that much to win a prize (we’ve got ten prize packages with cool stuff like LED light bulbs, Method/Biokleen/Eco Touch and a variety of other cleaners, and more). We are hoping to help bulk up the content so that people who have questions about green products can really find some solid answers. For more information on our contest, here is the contest page: http://greenhome.huddler.com/pages/contest

Thanks so much for providing such a great resource!

  5. There are some tribal communities in in India that are natural eco-warriors. For centuries, they were the protectors of our eco-system. Their customs and beliefs can hardly be classified as scientific, but they have a strange sense of the natural anvironment. We want to film their way of living, with some fantasy woven around.

    Visit the project page at:

You can download the concept of this film presented here as a short audio-visual.

  9. Hi Hurricane Candice peeps,

Enjoyed the recent story about sacrificing energy goals during this economic crisis – a real pleasure to read. We thought it might be nice to pass along some of our content, for your consideration.

In honor of Earth Day, Newsy.com has kicked off its new ‘Environment Channel’ (http://www.newsy.com/categories/environment/ ) – which includes videos dedicated to green, environmental and energy issues.

Would like to invite you to embed these short multi-perspective videos into your site to augment its excellent content. For example, I think the ‘Perspectives on Energy’ ( http://www.newsy.com/videos/perspectives_on_energy/ ) would be of interest to your viewers because of the way it brings together sources from around the world to show the differing attitudes and approaches on energy coverage in the media.

Newsy.com videos analyze and synthesize news coverage of important global issues from multiple sources. It’s unique method of presenting how different media outlets around the world are covering a story lends itself well to understanding the complexities of ‘green’ issues.

Please let me know what you think!
